Cookies
Cookies are small text files saved on your computer. The cookies are set automatically when you request a page with the .asp extension, thus starting a user session. The cookies contain a code that identifies a particular visitor. Cookies expire immediately upon going to a new page. To find utilities to help you manage your cookies, search for "cookie manager" in your favorite search engine.
Searches
We also track which words people use to search our site, although we have no idea who performed the search. Knowing what information our visitors seek allows us to fix information gaps in our site.
Site logs
Each visit and download at a particular domain or Internet address is recorded in a site log. We analyze our site logs to track how many visitors we have, which operating systems and browsers they use, and the pages visited. We use this information to design our pages so the majority of our visitors will have a pleasant and informative visit. We also look at how our visitors found our site — which search engine and keywords, or if our visitor typed in the address. Keywords tell us what kinds of information people are looking for when they come to our site. Finally, by looking at the logs we learn that international visitors have been to our site. One month we had four visitors from the United Kingdom, four from Germany, two from Poland, and one each from Japan, Canada, and Pakistan.
